Provo City School District has adopted a learning management system (LMS) for secondary schools called Canvas. Canvas allows parents to quickly engage in their child’s education. Parents can review upcoming or past assignments, check on grades, and get course announcements.
After parents create an account, they can become an “observer” of their student.
Observers have limited permissions that allow them to see what is going on in a course and a calendar of assignments. Like students, Observers cannot view a course until it is published and the course has started.
The following features are available to parents:
Parents can configure their Canvas account to send text and email notifications to be notified of grades and announcements.
A Canvas Parent app is available for smartphones and tablets in the Google Play Store or The Apple App Store.
Follow These Steps to Login
Before starting, parents need a pairing code from their student. Instructions on how to generate this code are on the Canvas Guides website.
Parents can access full instructions on how to use Canvas as an observer by going to the Canvas Observer Guide.
