Holly Tippetts has been with Dixon Middle School for 34 years. She spent 30 of those years teaching science, health and ballroom dance. She also spent 2 years on special assignment at BYU as a CFA and the last two as an instructional coach.
Holly’s favorite part of teaching students has always been getting to know students personally. She helps them not only learn the assigned materials but grow as young people and connect with the world around them. Those “ah-ha” moments are her greatest reward. She truly believes in the power of each day to make an impression for good, not only in the lives of students, but with her colleagues as well.
The Dixon Community will miss Holly’s inclusion and consideration as she actively strives to include them in school activities and celebrations. Recently Holly searched for graduates and staff that had been a part of Dixon in the past to celebrate the 90th anniversary. She is the unofficial archivist of all things historical Dixon and shows such tender respect and care for Dixon’s past.
Holly has been at the heart of collaboration and support for the entire Dixon Family. She says Dixon is small enough to still all know each other well and spearheads our monthly staff celebrations that provide time to invest in relationships. Her enthusiasm is contagious and her care is well noted and warmly received. While she looks forward to time with family and travel upon retirement, she includes in those plans returning to Dixon occasionally to keep those connections going. That is what Dixon means to Holly and what Holly is to Dixon.
Those who wish to say goodbye to Holly in person may do so during her retirement open house Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 3:00pm – 5:00pm at Dixon.
